How to Analyze and Identify Microplastics with the AIRsight Infrared/Raman Microscope
This video offers a basic demo of the process and practices for analyzing and identifying microplastics using the AIRsight infrared/Raman microscope.
Infrared Spectroscopy and Raman Spectroscopy
No more preparing multiple samples and jumping between two instruments to perform complementary molecular analysis. You can now take dual measurements with the AIRsight infrared Raman microscope. This single instrument enables you to obtain qualitative infrared and Raman spectra at the same position without moving samples by simply switching lenses.
With AMsolution software, you can easily switch between infrared and Raman measurements within one software program! The smart software also superimposes and displays infrared and Raman spectra from the appropriate libraries, so you can perform various analyses.

The versatile AIRsight microscope has a wide-view camera to observe areas up to 10×13 mm, a microscope camera for infrared measurements and an objective lens for Raman measurements. The wide-view camera supports digital variable zooming and shares positional data with the microscope camera and objective lenses. Infrared capabilities enable analysis of plastics, organic food components and certain inorganic samples. With the Raman function you can analyze carbon materials, pigments, additives, inorganic substances and some organic substances.
Effortlessly navigate through every step of your workflow, from image acquisition to infrared and Raman spectra measurement, all the way to data analysis with the user-friendly AMsolution software. Streamline operations by transitioning between infrared and Raman measurements with just a click.
Use the analysis software to overlay and compare infrared and Raman spectra, as well as to construct libraries for future reference. Additionally, the AMsolution software has features for measuring lengths, including objects in infrared and Raman microscope images, with the convenience of one-click output of length measurements.
The AIRsight infrared/Raman microscope includes an extensive array of standard and proprietary Shimadzu libraries, ranging from common reagents to complex macromolecules. With approximately 12,000 spectra, the standard offering provides abundant data for qualitative analysis. Included are spectra for polymers, food additives, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and inorganic compounds. The AMsolution analysis program enables you to create your own libraries by registering acquired infrared and Raman spectra. And 1 Year of Wiley KnowItAll included.
In addition to the spectra libraries, one year of Wiley KnowItAll is included with your purchase of an AIRsight system.
