Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Appoints Patrick Fromal as President

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI) announces the appointment of Patrick Fromal as its new President, effective April 1, 2025. Fromal, who currently serves as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, will oversee SSI’s continued market expansion, focusing on research, development and delivery of advanced analytical solutions and exceptional service to customers in science, industry and academia.

Fromal has more than 30 years of experience with SSI, having started his career with the company in 1994 as a contract intern, then transitioning to a permanent position as a molecular spectroscopy product specialist. He has held roles of increasing leadership responsibility with SSI across technical support, product coordination, sales and marketing, ultimately helping to shape the company’s strategic vision and business growth. His extensive expertise and deep commitment to SSI’s mission have been instrumental in driving success across key markets.

He succeeds Yoshiaki Maeda, who will assume a new role as Managing Executive Officer in charge of Corporate Strategy Planning & Corporate Communications, and Standard Strategy with Shimadzu Corporation in Japan.

Fromal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Virginia Tech.
